How to Record Digital Rain as a Video
Digital rain makes a striking background for short videos, intros and streams. You do not need paid software to capture it.
Step 1: set up the rain
- Open the Digital Rain Generator, type your text and choose your color.
- Press F for fullscreen, then H to hide the control panel.
- Use "Copy share link" if you want to reopen the exact same rain later or on another device.
Step 2: start recording
- Windows: press Win + G to open the Xbox Game Bar and use its capture button, or use the Snipping Tool's video option.
- Mac: press Shift + Command + 5 and choose a screen recording.
- iPhone and Android: use the built-in screen recorder from the quick settings or control center.
Record 10 to 20 seconds. That is plenty to loop or cut into a background.
Vertical video for TikTok, Reels and Shorts
Open the generator on your phone and hold it upright. Raise the text size to around 20 to 28 px so the columns are easy to see on a small screen, and record in portrait.
Using it live on a stream
Streaming software such as OBS Studio, which is free, can show a web page directly. Add a browser source, paste your share link and set the size to match your canvas, for example 1920 by 1080. You can then place your camera or text on top of the rain.
Tips for better clips
- Close other tabs so the animation stays smooth.
- Pick a short text so the rain looks consistent.
- Use a free video editor such as CapCut to trim, loop and add your own title.
- Use music you have the right to use, or a library the platform provides.
